That’s why at ReDisc we offer a service that is the perfect solution for your new or badly worn carbon discs. An innovative technology based on a mechano-chemical process hardens your disc’s core and protects it from wear. WHEN ARE CARBON -CERAMIC DISCS SUITABLE FOR REFURBISHMENT?

Innovative Carbon-Ceramic discs refurbishement and upgrades.

It is very difficult to determine when carbon ceramic discs are suitable for refurbishment.
Based on experience, we recommend that our customers do not wait too long for renewal, as the disk may be worn out and can no longer be restored.

Therefore, we recommend that you decide to rebuild:

– Longer braking distance
– Age (10 years) or more than 100,000 km
– Visual changes (mechanical surface damage, discoloration, highly rough surface)
– The disc weight is closer to the minimum weight or thickness
– Decrease in Carboteq values below the minimum value

REFURBISHMENT PROCESS

 

Our technology is one of a kind, so the process of refurbishing/upgrading carbon-ceramic brake discs is carefully planned. The service we offer is the result of several years of research and refinement. Your carbon disc goes through several phases. The production time is estimated at 30–45 days, or as agreed.

STEP 1: The carbon-ceramic brake disc is checked, cleaned, measured using Carboteq®, weighed and X-rayed.

STEP 2: An innovative process in which the damaged surface is sanded down, replaced with new base and a new topcoat. We harden the core of the original carbon disc using binders, through the process of pyrolysis. This step helps to fill the air pockets and “coat” the carbon fibres, thus extending the life of your disc. In the upgrade service, all carbon fibres are further protected and the structure is strengthened.

When repairing minor structural defects, the surface is treated and the structural defects are corrected. The quality of the disc is equal to or better than the original.

STEP 3: The carbon-ceramic disc goes through a control procedure, is cleaned, re-measured using Carboteq®, weighed and, if necessary, X-rayed. Each disc comes with a certificate.

We are the only company on the market that has its own production line for the refurbishing of heavily worn carbon-ceramic discs with LPI technology. Since 1954, the Swiss company Proceq has been a leading manufacturer of high-quality portable testing solutions for the construction, automotive, paper and many other industries.
